So, I've read the half-life is from 30-60 days. That is one of the reasons I didn't want to take it - that's a long time to stick around. I did read hair loss, photosensitivity, itching area all potential side effects of Plaquenil, so hopefully those will subside soon as the med levels drop. My doctor wants me to start taking Plaquenil tomorrow. I have read some of your comments about nausea, heartburn, indigestion, and hair loss. He suggested my complex autoimmune disease along with my hypothyroidism (which is being monitored and medicated) are most likely the cause (and genetics, of course, like duh….). Best, (name deleted) hi there- Good to hear from you. My dermatologist had suggested Rogaine but my rheum said I'll be stuck on it for life (and it's expensive) and it only works "less than 60% of the time" according to its own website.

ER, Hives and Plaquenil - I spent the evening in the ER with hives. The ER doctor thinks that it is the plaquenil causing the hives. When I got home I googled plaquenil allergy and I found some pics of hives from plaquenil and that's exactly what my hives look like.
